Introducing EMC Play as part of EMC 2014 [Sydney]

EMC Play, will form a vital part of the Electronic Music Conference [EMC] to be held in Sydney in December.

A complete night-time program of showcase events will form EMC play and the events are designed to discover the next crop of Australian electronic music talent.  EMC Play will see many of Australia’s leading dance music labels host events across multiple venues over two nights at Sydney’s iconic Kings Cross & Darlinghurst entertainment precinct on December 3rd and 4th.

Entrants are now being taken for EMC play and those participating will be given the chance to perform at showcase events suited to their sound and in front of the world’s biggest talent buyers including Donnie Estopinal (Disco Donnie Presents/SFX), Johnny Shockey (Coachella/LED Presents), Bobby Runway (SBE/SLS LA), Neil Jacbobsen (A&R, Interscope Records) and Gary Richards (Hard LA/Live Nation).

Those shortlisted will also be given complimentary tickets to attend the conference and Jack Daniel’s will be offering one of EMC Play’s hottest emerging artists the chance to build on this local experience by showcasing their talent at a global level with the #JDFutureLegends Explorer Fund.  The grant will provide a $5,000 commitment towards international travel for the purposes of visiting one of the world’s leading industry events in 2015, allowing the recipient to not only explore more music but, with the support of EMC and Sounds Australia, to also access invaluable performance and networking opportunities at their chosen event.

EMC has assembled a programming committee to review applications including prominent Australian artist managers, label executives, media and agents including Nathan McLay (Future Classic), Dan Zilber (FBi), Jon Hanlon (Sony Music/Konkrete), Jane Slingo (Young Strangers), Al Green (Maker Agency), Anthony Columbi (Global PR Pool), Andrew Jackson (Milton Archer), Tim Duggan (EMC/inthemix) and Neil Ackland (EMC/inthemix). Every artist application will be heard and reviewed by the panel. The team of industry tastemakers will also help define the sound and direction of EMC Play.

EMC is fast becoming a key platform for grassroots talent to grab the attention of the world’s leading talent buyers, A&R, media and promoters. Previous EMC Showcase artists who have gone on to great success include The Kite String Tangle, Safia, Meltek, Blunt B & KLP.

For those looking to participate, artist application fees are $30 and can be submitted at electronicmusicconference.com.
